Today’s workplace requires the very best of each employee and your organization deserves the best people. We offer psychological tools to help ensure that your workforce meets the demands of your business or organizational environment. Hiring, retaining, and promoting the best people are among your organization's most important tasks. Since 1991, we have helped over 100 organizations at the local, state, and national levels by examining thousands of applicants and employees from all walks of life, such as nurses, executives, clerks, police officers, secretaries, engineers, sales people, attorneys, teachers, firefighters, assembly workers, and truck drivers. We can help with critical personnel decisions.

Psychological Evaluations for Pre-employment Screening of Job Applicants

It can be hard to find the right applicant. Depending on the specific job he or she must be smart, have integrity, have a good work ethic, know how to deal effectively with others, and show good judgment. We can help analyze the characteristics necessary for a job and construct a testing program to measure them. We will recommend whether or not to hire, and let you know what supervisory or training needs the applicant may benefit from. In our pre-employment screening process use a structured, in-depth interview and a battery of well-standardized tests of personality, cognitive ability, and personal background. This combination of methods allows us to make fair and accurate predictions of success and potential problems with regard to each specific job description and set of job requirements. We work closely with employers to determine the best selection criteria and the most telling problem areas for the job in question.

Management Assessment

Leadership and management skills don’t automatically come with experience. Even the very best line staff with years of experience do not necessary make effective supervisors. Your new supervisor needs to have excellent organizational skills, know how to persuade and motivate employees, have excellent customer service skills, be highly motivated, and have an organizational vision for the future. We can help you select the best person for the job.

Fitness-for-Duty Psychological Evaluations

One of the most difficult situations an administrator has to deal with is an employee who is troubled or problematic, and may be unable to work in a safe and effective manner. Through a comprehensive examination process, we can tell you if your employee is fit to work, and, if not, what to do to help that person and your organization. We will recommend interventions such as mental health or chemical dependency treatment, if appropriate, as well as advise you regarding possible work restrictions and accommodations to help your employee get back to work, if and when that’s possible. We can help you plan strategies that will conform to recommended practices under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). And if an employee is unlikely to be able to return to work in the foreseeable future, we can help facilitate applicable long-term disability benefits. A thorough and timely fitness-for-duty exam can protect your organization from potentially dangerous behavior and from possible charges of negligence in hiring or retention. It is also the best way to make sure that a problem employee gets the help he or she needs. Our fitness-for-duty examinations include an in-depth, structured interview with the employee, a battery of objective personality and cognitive tests, and a review of the records related to the problem behaviors. We strive to provide information that is in the best interests of the employee and the organization.

Psychological Evaluations for Disability Determination and Return-to-Work
Management

Mental health, emotional, and personality problems are “invisible” disorders that can have a profound effect in the workplace. For disability determination and outline return-to-work issues, we use a structured, in-depth interview and a battery of objective, well-standardized personality, intelligence and academic achievement, and neuropsychological tests. We review social and personal history and education and work history, and determine the employee’s level of motivation. We strive to make recommendations that are in the best interests of the employee and the organization, including reasonable workplace accommodations.

Consultation and Training for ADA and FMLA

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is designed to provide fair access to employment for people with disabilities. The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) guarantees eligible employees leave for certain medical issues, such as childbirth, care of immediate family members, and mental health problems. We can help your organization comply with these laws to best serve your employees and to meet your organizational goals by making an accurate assessment of what mental health or personality problems might exist and planning return-to-work strategies, including reasonable accommodations.
